Nederland blijkt 4 soorten en 2 ondersoorten van de Schroeforchis rijk te zijn.

Al lang was bekend dat in Nederland de Herfstschroeforchis (Spiranthes spiralis) voorkomt en in vroeger tijden ook de Zomerschroeforchis (Spiranthes aestivalis) er voorkwam. Deze laatst genoemde soort is helaas al tientallen jaren niet meer in Nederland waargenomen.

Maar er is goed nieuws! Enkele jaren geleden werd in Twente een nieuwe Schroeforchis-soort (van het geslacht Spiranthes) ontdekt. En in de jaren daarna nog eens 4 soorten. Toegegeven, het gaat eigenlijk om 2 soorten en 2 ondersoorten. Maar toch!

We houden het nog even spannend om welke soorten het precies gaat. Nog niet al het nieuws is gepubliceerd en dat willen de vinders en terrein-eigenaren graag eerst zelf doen.
